HITT ROAST BIG HIT

Neighbors United's Roast of local business icon Chris Hitt (Hitt Plumbing) was an overwhelming success. Almost 300 people attended the dinner and festivities held on the Bridge at Sunset Hills, courtesy of Chet Hitt and Sunset Hills Memorial Park.

"Roaster in Charge" Cliff Earp kept  the crowd entertained, as did honoree Chris (Who sat on an appropriate porcelain throne on stage) with his comebacks and quips. Many friends shared memories and Hitt was presented with recognition honors from Supervisor Mitzelfelt, Assemblyman Adams, the Town Of Apple Valley, and Fire and School Boards for his local volunteer efforts.

The evening raised money for the Sunset Hills Children's Foundation and Neighbors United. Future fundraisers are in the planning stages as we gear up for the 2010 political season.

NEIGHBORS ACT TO SAVE FIRE DISTRICT

Neighbors United member Cliff Earp spoke for the group when he addressed the June 9 Apple Valley Town Council to protest any move to take over the local Fire District. In part Earp wanted the Council and particularly Mayor Rick Rolle, who was championing the take- over bid, to know that; "We incorporated this Town for local control and there is no more local control than having a locally elected Fire Board of Directors and ninety percent of the firefighters living in our Town".

After hearing comment from Earp and many other speakers the Council voted unanimously to drop the Fire Board takeover and not discuss it in the future unless requested to do so by the Fire Board itself.

Neighbors United will continue to stay involved in local issues to represent your interests in mainataining our "better way of life" in Apple
